I am pretty sure this was done by Hiroaki Samura, the creator of Blade of the Immortal. Someone correct me if I’m wrong! Love that series.
But I’ve always loved their artwork, and this is no exception. The tribal body art, the compact design of the ropework, the dehumanizing headbag. Even the bowing of the head is a sign of helplessness, and submission. Though perhaps not of total surrender, as the slightly fisted hands may suggest. The small details are lovely, the depressions in the flesh adding to the realism of the artwork.
